Chad Cortez Everett is a Philadelphia-born visual artist and art educator whose paintings and mixed-media works transform personal memories into visual narratives. His work draws from childhood experiences, family, neighborhood life, and the cultural landscape of Philadelphia.

Through his artistic practice, Everett explores memory, identity, community, and the everyday experiences that shape who we become. His work is informed by his background in painting, years as an art educator, and an ongoing commitment to storytelling through visual art.

​Everett earned a BFA in Painting from Tyler School of Art and an MFA from the Hoffberger School of Painting at the Maryland Institute College of Art.
​ARTIST STATEMENT

​Memory as Material

My work explores how memories of childhood, family, place, and popular culture shape identity. I combine painting, collage, personal photographs, found imagery, and cultural artifacts to reconstruct moments from my life in Philadelphia.
Rather than recreating the past literally, I allow images to overlap, fade, and shift—reflecting the fragmented way memory operates. These visual narratives form the foundation of Jawnism, my artistic movement rooted in Philadelphia culture and lived experience.
